Then you should take into consideration how to implement them into the text. To manage this task successfully, follow these guidelines:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Provide a context for each quotation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Write briefly about when and where the quotation was written or spoken.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Define the author of the quotation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tell your reader precisely who is speaking. I have told you for the last time to stop calling me your \u201clittle sweetie\u201d!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Parenthetical reference or a footnote\/endnote number is used after the closed quotation mark. For example:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Lincoln declared, \u201cWhenever I hear anyone arguing for slavery, I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Quotation marks are used for each new cue in a dialogue:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cMr. President, you have a reputation as a quiet man,\u201d said Coolidge\u2019s dinner companion. \u201cI have wagered a dollar that I can get you to say more than three words.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYou lose, madam,\u201d replied the President.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For inner quoted words within larger quotations, single quotation marks are used:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>He said, \u201cPeople who say \u2018Let me be honest with you\u2019 seldom are.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Quotation marks enclose titles of works that are <strong>not<\/strong> published <strong>separately<\/strong>: poems, stories, articles, chapters in a book.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Quotation marks are <strong>not<\/strong> used for the title of your own paper on that paper or on its title page.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both opening and closing quotation marks are put<strong> above<\/strong> the text.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Special Usage of Quotation Marks<\/h3>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>Use quotation marks with foreign words and expressions:\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Maria felt \u201csimpatico\u201d toward the rebel forces.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Use quotation marks with technical terms that are supposed to be unfamiliar to most readers:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The browser will accept a \u201ccookie\u201d and open a new window.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Use quotation marks for emphasis when it is hard to distinguish two words:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>I have a problem with the understanding of the words \u201caccept\u201d and \u201cexcept.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Take into consideration that italics may also be used instead of quotation marks in these three situations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Paraphrasing<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It is putting an author\u2019s thought in your own words.
